PROPOSED GUN BANS

Summary of Draft Contents
Ban all "non-sporting" firearms from civilian ownership
Reclassify the following as "non-sporting."
- All firearms originally included in the Clinton's 93 Assault Weapons ban
- All semi-auto rifles, pistols, and shotguns (including hunting rifles and shotguns)
- All firearms with "high-capacity" or "rapid-fire" capability (e.g., 5-shot pump shotgun, 9-shot Glock)
- All long guns with a pistol-grip, forearm vertical grip, collapsible or folding butt-stock
- All firearms with muzzle-breaks
- All 50 BMG caliber rifles
- All Class III NFA firearms and destructive devices, e.g., full-auto, short-barreled rifles, etcGive sole authority to the U.S. Attorney General's Office to classify any firearm as "non-sporting."
Remove all "non-sporting" firearms from civilian ownership through voluntary donation to law enforcement or compulsory turn-in, i.e., no grandfathering.
Ban all Internet advertising of firearms.
Commentary
Based on the history of both political parties, it is likely we'll see some variation of drafts enacted as legislation. The '68 Gun Control Act, the '93 Assault Weapons ban and the '93 Brady Act were all made law by cross-over Republicans, and we know all too well of the the compromises the "pro-firearms" non-profits have made over the years, on our behalf. What have any of our "friends" accomplished under 8 years of Republican control? And you think they'll be effective under the enemy's control?
We also know that a number of board members of these "pro-firearm" organizations agree that "non-sporting" firearms have no place in civilian hands, and these "pro-gunners" actually supported the Reagan '87 NFA ban, and Bush 1s "assault-weapon" imports ban. Additionally, the current Bush Administration's failure to manage the ATF has seen the number of licensed dealers fall from close to 200,000 to 58,000 during his term, and he ignored attempts by OSHA to regulate ammo out of existence. You can bet the Obama EPA will have something to say about banning lead and sulfur based carbon emissions.
There's been a recent rush to buy "assault-style" firearms (due to the Obama victory) that has absolutely depleted manufacturer and distributor inventories of tactical firearms and accessories. Seems folks didn't want to be caught "arm-less" like they were during Clinton's terms. Unfortunately, the draft legislation suggests confiscating all such firearms as Australia did years ago, not grandfathering. As such, you would voluntarily give your "non-sporting" firearms to law enforcement, or alternatively turn them in for "de-activization," i.e., melt-down. California already succeeded with 50 BMG rifles.
So, what to do? There seem to be no real answers. Gun owners have become unpopular in our nation, and we no longer have friends in high places. Maybe you should call your congressman. Well, before you waste your time, might I remind you that your congressman is most likely an indirect reason for all our nation's problems, and directly complicit in overt acts to assault the second amendment, or at least guilty by his inaction to preserve it? Additionally, your congressman has much greater issues on the table than your right to possess a killing machine.
Recall also, this is the same congressman that raised the minimum wage (a business tax to buy the poor vote), passed the Medicare prescription-drug welfare benefit (more taxes to buy the senior vote), dropped and broke the social security privatization egg (insolvent in 20 years), ignored border security (they're still coming in droves), and in-effect just raised taxes by $700 billion to bail out the Wall-Street Jewish Brokers Club and their parasitic socialist clientele. Those of Hebrew origin don't be offended. Just so happens this particular elitist group of white-ethnics control the money and media in the U.S. Slanderous racial slurs often help make a more emphatic point.
Alternatively, you could contribute to the NRA to boost their compromise power. They'll do that compromise thing they do so well, and maybe you'll get to keep your semi-auto 12 GA bird gun, but forfeit your AR15 and Glock sidearm. It's ironic that we're fighting a war to democratize a nation of our sworn enemies, while voting away our own democracy and constitutional rights. In the end though, I'll still wake up everyday with the same toe-nail fungal infection and back-ache, ensuring the promise that some things will never change.
